Best Friend
We went out to frog playground yesterday – the one that’s downtown in the middle of Boston Common. There are always piles of kids there which our social butterflies love, we get to ride the train downtown, it’s right by Flannery’s school, and best of all – no baby swings which induce meltdowns in Cayla. Collin played tag with some uppity older kids from the North End while Cayla mastered the fire pole, which scared the socks off me. By the time Flannery met up with us, Collin was playing with an out-of-town boy his age (ahhhhh). He ran up to Flannery holding the boy’s hand and said, “Hi Queso! This is my new best friend.” A few minutes later, the boy had to leave and Collin stood forlornly on a bench and sighed, “Oh well, I guess he’s not my best friend anymore . . . .”
