Family craft time is the best!  In retrospect, paper snowflakes make out of cheap origami paper were probably not the best choice.  But, I didn't have any coffee filters (the best choice!) and I have 748,093,495 sheets or origami paper in my basement armageddon craft stash.

Little man can't really cut, so cutting little details through 6 layers of paper was not happening.  He and Flannery tag teamed with a hole puncher for awhile, but hole punchers do have an edge and Flannery was fearing for her fingers.

Little lady can cut, but explaining that you need to stop your cut in the middle of the snowflake and not go all the way to the other end wasn't working.  After a couple decapitated snowflakes and then painstakingly cutting with her and ripping the scissors out of her hand just before the cut went to far, I gave up.  I gave her an old magazine that she happily cut up.

Cayla had some similar experiences cutting through a number of snowflakes and decided to move onto origami.   (The lack of a meltdown in this situation is EPIC.  We are making progress!!!)

She started making paper cups for the little ones who proceeded to fill them up with water for a quick drink.  At one point we heard little man say, "Uh oh . . . ".  When you hear him say this, it usually means some huge disaster has occurred, so I pulled myself away from my snowflake cutting and zoomed in the kitchen to find the sink overflowing onto the floor.  And, that ended the origami cup making, which was about to happen anyway since Collin (who also abandoned the snowflake cutting) for cootie catchers had just given Cayla her fortune of who her boyfriend was (it has come to this) which initiated a great chase in which all four kids became willing participants.

And, amid the din, the least crafty member of our family could.not.tear.herself.away from the snowflake making.  She finally had to hand a snowflake off to me to finish as she was about to be late for a hockey game.  Flannery is NEVER late for hockey games.  She is becoming more and more like me everyday:)  And, this is NOT a good thing.
