The advent is here!  We are going for creating things and family time:)  Here is what we did the first year (Advent 2011).  We made it through 2012 in a couple of posts (part 1, part 2, part 3).

It was the littles first time on skates.  It's about time.  They have now watched countless hours of hockey and begged to go skating.  The little lady was amazing.  She had rubber legs at first and fell over a millisecond after standing up.  Again and again and again.  And then, at one point she was upright and not holding onto the wall and slowly making her way around the rink.  Again and again and again.  And, then she got her first ice skate blister and made it clear she had had enough:)

Little man was all rubber all day.  He stayed glued to Flannery or I and after a couple times around planted himself on the bench and took off his helmet.  However, he'll be back!

Cayla, who has been down on skating all year and doesn't want to play hockey anymore (have the teen years begun . . . ) skated the slowest lap in the history of open skate and then proceeded to take her skates off by taking the laces off her skates completely.  She then relaced her skates and became our resident photographer.

Collin flew all over the ice - forwards, backward, sideways, and always making sure to spray the littles with snow anytime they were down:)  I think he better watch out as the little lady will be close on his heels in no time.
