Goonie's Back!!!!!!!!!
Well, my parents finally released our dog. My Mom bought her a final dinner of liverwurst. Greta has returned. We are once again a one beagle house.* I can't deny that it has been really nice to be dog-free. The best part has been a summer of open doors and open gates. But the kids are so excited to have their dog back. As we pulled up our driveway with Greta in tow, Cayla said, "Look Goonie! Look Goonie, we're coming home. Our house is beautiful, Goonie!" She's spent the evening singing, "I love you, I love you, I love you", under her breath. She also insisted upon taking Greta for a walk (in the POURING rain, mind you) the minute we got home and she made it clear that she would be the one holding the leash. She also "read" Greta a book while we were getting ready for bed. I'm not quite sure how long this Greta-love will last, but it's already worth it for this one fun day. Cayla has also declared that she would like to have a bunny for a pet - one that doesn't bite. We went to a party at a neighbor's house this summer and Cayla spent.the.entire.time with her rabbit. Flannery and I have discretely talked about getting a pet rabbit that doesn't bite like our last one (wayyyyyyyyyyy before C and C), but apparently the talk wasn't so discrete.
*Greta has only come back to us because my parents are going to Switzerland to visit my brother. My dad made it clear that Greta will only be staying with us for 6 weeks. He didn't even give us all her food. I guess we'll let him and Cayla duke it out when they return.PS - Tonight, we discovered the best Indian food in the Metro Detroit area, Udipi on Orchard Lake Road - YUM! My Dad ordered ghee rice (I kid you not!). It doesn't get any richer than that.

That is so adorable - I can't believe your parents are stealing your dog!
Now I'm hungry for Indian food.
I know. But in all fairness we dumped her on them for a year. It was a win-win-win situation. Who wouldn't fall in love with that cute ball of fur. And, 5 days in, Cayla's thrill has worn off.
