The Fish and the Sandwitch

Yikes - it's been over a week since I last posted. One of my secret rules was that I'd post at least once a week. But, it's summer and we've been having way too much fun. In a somewhat related situation, I have 142 unread messages in my inbox. I promise not to recap our entire week. Highlights include swimming in Lake Michigan, cutting up balloons, and getting new sandals.

We spent up few days on the west side of the state, on the shores of Lake Michigan. Collin is a complete fish. He loves to swim and spent 3 wonderful days, swimming and asking to swim. This was his first time swimming in waves and after clawing Flannery's sunburned back for about a day, he was good to go. He loves "diving in" and can hold his head under the water for a surprising long amount of time. After coming home from the lake, he proceeded to dive all over the place. He will stand with his arms in the air and say, "Watch me dive!". He will then fall, stiff as a board, onto any surface that is remotely soft. Although the "bellyflop" onto the bed looked sort of fun, the couch and rug were a bit suspect.

Cayla also loved to swim. But, luckily, she is a sand witch. She enjoys diving, piling, shoveling, collecting, and throwing sand. Which is good, because I love playing in it too.

The kids love playdough, cutting, and gluing. However, they have discovered a new talent that was short lived, due to limited supplies. First, they would blow up a "long-twisty-clown-balloon" using a little air pump - fairly impressive for a three-year-old, I think. Then, I'd twist it into something. And finally they would cut it (pop!) into many little pieces. This resulted in about a half hour of fabulous fun and a little less packing needed for Boston.

And finally, Grandma bought Cayla her first new pair of shoes! They are Tevas. They are gorgeous. They were on a super sale. She bought them at the Art Fair, always the best place to find shoe deals. Grandma also tried to find a pair for Collin, so we went into a super swanky shoe store to see if they had any good deals. The shoes were super, super cute - however, the sale shoes at $29 and $39 (OK, a few pairs for $19), and the regular priced ones at $69, made us a bit sick.

Now for some news completely unrelated to Collin and Cayla:
1. We are meeting with a realtor tomorrow evening.
2. We bought a piece of art (see below) at the Art Fair (Yes! Just before moving and losing Flannery's salary)
